Marcello Di Leonardo presents his first recording project as a leader (“Jando Music/Via Veneto Jazz”) at the Casa del Jazz. One of the most appreciated drummers in the Italian jazz scene and beyond, for his first CD he calls a jazz legend, saxophonist Rick Margitza (Miles Davis, Maria Schneider, Steps Ahead) and rounds out the rhythm section with two masters in their instruments, Dario Rosciglione on double bass and Julian Oliver Mazzariello on piano. Recorded in the Casa del Jazz studios, “The Magic Box” features all original songs composed by Di Leonardo that will take us on a journey back to the 1960s and 1970s when jazz was the soundtrack to the finest movies (listen to the catchy bossa of “Picnic” to believe).
