Billy Cobham

The jazz world first learned about Billy Cobham when the Mahavishnu Orchestra left everyone in awe in the early ’70s. However, he had already played drums for greats like Horace Silver and George Benson and had even contributed to the legendary recording of Miles Davis’s “Bitches Brew.” Many artists have benefited from his rhythmic skills, including Peter Gabriel and the Grateful Dead, but Billy Cobham has also had an exceptionally rich solo career. His resume is filled with recordings and moments that have had a significant impact on the history of music and jazz. In 2023, it has been 50 years since the release of his solo debut, “Spectrum.” Featuring tracks like “Stratus,” “Spectrum,” and “Red Baron,” the album stands as a milestone in the history of jazz fusion. The album continues to have an impressive impact and will be fittingly celebrated in this concert.
