ALESSANDRO LANZONI TRIO
FEAT. FRANCESCO CAFISO
Alessandro Lanzoni – piano
Francesco Cafiso – sax
Matteo Bortone – bass guitar
Enrico Morello – drums
Young people, friends, united by a passion for jazz that led them to seek out the most prestigious educational experiences: in fact, it was in the classrooms of Siena Jazz, during the two years of the International Jazz Master, that Alessandro Lanzoni, Enrico Morello and Matteo Bortone met, and they immediately understood each other.
This is how their Trio was born, in light of a common experience that immediately resulted in the desire to build something beautiful and new together, under the banner of the continuous search for fusion and interplay (the band has no less than two albums “Dark flavor” and Seldom” to their credit)
The group is joined as Special Guest Francesco Cafiso, an extraordinarily gifted musician who boasts outstanding international collaborations (Hank Jones, Dave Brubeck, Cedar Walton, Mulgrew Miller, Jimmy Cobb, Ben Riley, Ray Drummond, Lewis Nash, James Williams, Joe Lovano, Christian McBride, George Mraz, Kenny Wheeler, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Enrico Rava, Stefano Bollani, and many, many others).
The repertoire will consist of original pieces, but of course, also pieces from the best tradition of jazz, with choices extremely
mirate (Monk and Coltrane above all).
ROSARIO GIULIANI TRIO meets DADO MORONI
Rosario Giuliani – alto sax
Dado Moroni – piano
Luca Bulgarelli – bass guitar
Sasha Mashin – drums
Giuliani and Moroni need no introduction, as they are recognized internationally established Italian jazz musicians, and they have a long and fruitful collaboration behind them that has seen them tour in Italy and abroad. For this concert at the Casa Del Jazz in Rome, the duo will be joined by exceptional rhythmists-Luca Bulgarelli and Sasha Mashin drummerssome of the most prominent of the new Soviet jazz scene. The remarkable instrumental and rhythmic mastery, and the quartet’s natural musical empathy foster a constant creative dialogue such that the pieces lead in ever-changing and often unexpected directions.
A project consisting mainly of original pieces by Moroni and Giuliani arranged for this brand new and unprecedented quartet.
ROSARIO GIULIANI
Rosario Giuliani impresses the listener from the first moment by the ease with which he can draw fluid, sometimes swirling phrasing from his saxophones,
lacing himself naturally with great saxophonists such as Julian “Cannonball” Adderley, Art Pepper, and John Coltrane. Many prestigious collaborations in the field of jazz,
with artists such as Charlie HADEN, Gonzalo RUBALCABA, Martial SOLAL, Mark TURNER, Kenny WHEELER, Bob MINTZER, Joe LOCKE, Joe LA BARBERA, Joe LOCKE, John PATITUCCI, Marc JOHNSON, Joey BARON, Richard GALLIANO, Kurt ELLING…DADO MORONI
Moroni is probably the most ‘exported’ Italian jazz pianist abroad, judging by the consistency and regularity of his international engagements and his list of collaborations. Putting them together composes an encyclopedia of modern jazz: Dizzy Gillespie, Chet Baker, Roy Hargrove, Wynton Marsalis, Clark Terry, Randy Brecker, Freddie Hubbard, Harry Edison, Woody Shaw, Eddie ‘Lockjaw’ Davis, Johnny Griffin, James Moody, Zoot Sims, Al Cohn, Sam Rivers, Joe Henderson, Slide Hampton, Curtis Fuller, Joe Pass, Herb Ellis, Barney Kessel, Lionel Hampton, Terry Gibbs, Ron Carter, Buster Williams, Ray Brown, Kenny Clarke, Art Taylor, Billy Higgins, Ben Riley, Sam Woodyard, Shelly Manne, and on and on it goes.
